7/14/2005 - Medical Update on Don
Good morning!
The sun is shining and the temperature is on the rise already, it is promising to be a typical hot, humid summer day in Alabama. After last night's storm and drenching rain, we welcome the sunshine. Don and I pray that you all well and trusting God.
Tuesday afternoon Don went to see Dr. Cohen for his quarterly checkup, and Dr. Cohen was pleasantly surprised to see him. Don drove himself to the doctor's office and was feeling pretty good. However, yesterday when he called to give Don the results of the blood tests, the news was not good.
Don is still bleeding internally, and his "numbers" - the creatinine level, BUN reading, levels of sodium and potassium, Don's hematacrit and protein levels were all worse than three months ago. His kidney function is below 20% again, although there is no significant fluid retention.
While all of that information is somewhat discouraging, Don and I know that it only reveals how his body is functioning, it does not tell us anything about what God has plannned. These past seven months have been a treasure for which we give God praise and thanks. Don and I have been particularly blessed and encouraged by the love and prayers of our friends. We simply ask that you continue to pray for God to be glorified in and through our lives.
"Father, in the Name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, we praise and exalt Your Holy Name. We ask that You restore to each one who gives, 100-fold, all that we receive in love, prayers, time, energy, thoughts and encouragement by Your Grace, Amen."
