5/11/2005 - Don and Cellblock and me!

Good Afternoon!

I do believe that spring has sprung into summer! It is in the high 80's today, but the sun feels good (at least for now). You may recall that a couple of summers ago, Cellblock had surgery on both of is back legs. It is common for Labradors to have problems, and he is common! There are some days when he can scarcely put his right rear leg on the ground. Getting old isn't even easy on the dogs! However, he doesn't complain and there are days when he runs almost as fast as he did a few years ago. Don said one day, he ran so fast that he caught the squirrel, and was so surprised he dropped it! The squirrel escaped with a shorter tail, and a heart condition!

Don is pretty much as he has been for some time now - weak. He does not get dizzy; he just has very little energy either physically or mentally. Sometimes he's too weak to even read. However, he is still able to care for himself and is able to eat, and his kidneys are still doing their job. He is also, however, still bleeding internally, and occasionally he doesn't have much of an appetite.

On Monday, May 16 I am going for a needle biopsy; my mammogram had some spots on it the doctor didn't really feel comfortable not investigating them. I would be grateful for your prayers that the results would be negative.  I will not get the report immediately, but as soon as I do know I will report to you.

Please pray also for Ruth Messerschmidt as she continues recovery from a stroke and for her husband Edwin as he deals daily with her inability to communicate.

Pray also for the work of Angel Tree both at Christmas and the summer camping program. Don and I count it a privilege to pray for you, and we never stop giving thanks to God our Father and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for your love and friendship. In Christ we are one, marykay and Don
